On-Site Machine Inspection Plan

KOMO Machine, Inc. offers the following MACHINE INSPECTION PLAN. At a minimum, it includes accomplishment of all items described below. The quoted price for this plan includes only the labor hours associated with each described task. Purchase of all necessary replacement parts will be the responsibility of the machine owner, unless the part is covered under the warranty terms.

It should be noted that this MACHINE INSPECTION PLAN does not replace the requirement to accomplish the recommended maintenance as described in your KOMO Operation and Maintenance manual.

ESSENTIAL MACHINE CHECKS

  • BELTS The servo motor belts for the X, Y and Z axes will be inspected for wear and replaced if necessary. The correct tension and alignment adjustments will be made. The pulleys on the servo motors and ball screws will also be checked for wear.
  • LINEAR RAILS The linear rails for the X, Y and Z axes will be checked for galling, burrs, etc. Rail caps will be replaced as required. The bearing trucks will be inspected, noting the condition of the wipers and lubrication connections. Lubrication fittings and lines will be replaced as required.
  • BALL SCREWS and BALL NUTS The ball screws and ball nuts for the X, Y and Z axes will be inspected for the condition of the screw, proper lubrication and overall cleanliness. The ball nut and lubrication connections will be inspected, their condition noted and necessary replacements made.
  • BELLOWS and WAY COVERS The bellows and way covers on the X, Y and Z axes will be inspected for general condition. Way covers will be checked for alignment and condition of wipers. Bellows will be checked for cleanliness, tears and abrasions.
  • BALL SCREW SUPPORT (if applicable) The X axis ball screw support will be inspected for proper operation, sweep and alignment. Recorded data will be submitted, along with recommended corrective actions if necessary.
  • PIGGYBACK SPINDLES The piggyback spindles will be inspected for proper operation, sweep and alignment. Recorded data will be submitted, along with recommended corrective actions if necessary.
  • DRILL UNITS The drill units will be inspected for proper operation, sweep and alignment. Recorded data will be submitted, along with recommended corrective actions if necessary.
  • BRAKE INTENSIFIER (VR 1005TT ONLY) The brake intensifier on the Y axis will be inspected for proper operation. The reservoir will be checked for proper fluid level and the system will be examined for leaks.
  • TABLE LOCK PINS (if applicable) The table lock pins on the Y axis will be inspected for operation and alignment. Alignment of the tables will also be checked and adjustments made as necessary
  • COUNTERBALANCE The Z axis counterbalance will be inspected for proper adjustment. The counterbalance cylinders will be examined for leaks; the block and check valves will be checked for proper operation. All required adjustments shall be made
  • GIB SCREW and DOVETAIL SLIDES The dovetail slides will be checked for proper adjustment and operation.
  • SLIDES The slides used for main head operations will be inspected for wear, proper operation and lubrication.
  • AUTO LUBE RESERVOIR The auto lube system will be inspected and checked for proper interval settings and operation. The system reservoir will be checked for proper fluid level.
  • FRL (FILTER, REGULATOR, LUBRICATOR) The FRL will be inspected and checked for proper operation. The condition of the filter will be examined and replaced if necessary. The regulator will be tested for proper air oil setting and the fluid level will be checked in the lubricator.
  • SPINDLE MAINTENANCE All of the spindle collet nuts will be inspected for wear and damage. The threads on the spindles will be inspected for wear; the tapers of the spindles will be inspected for wear, damage and cleanliness.
  • ELECTRICAL and CONTROL ENCLOSURES The electrical and control enclosures will be inspected for contamination, wire conditions etc. Filters on the air exchanger will be inspected and cleaned if necessary.
  • MAINTENANCE RECORDS All available maintenance records will be reviewed and assessed for compliance to the maintenance routines recommended in the Komo Operation and Maintenance manuals.
  • OVERALL MACHINE APPEARANCE The general condition and overall appearance of the router will be assessed and summarized.
  • RACK / DRIVE ALIGNMENT (VR TG ONLY) The drives mounted on the X and U axes will be inspected and the squaring of the drives to the racks will be checked.
  • BASE RACK (VR TG ONLY) The racks on the X and U axes will be inspected for wear, burrs, etc. The racks will be cleaned and rack lubricant applied. Drives will be squared as necessary.
  • SAFETY GUARD E-STOP (VR TG ONLY) The emergency stop circuit mounted on the safety guard will be tested for proper operation and inspected for damage.
  • POP-UP / CLAMPING SYSTEM (if applicable) Inspect the condition and operation of the table clamping and/or the pop-up pin system.

ESSENTIAL VACUUM PUMP CHECKS

  • VACUUM OPERATION The vacuum system will be inspected for proper operation, including on/off at the CRT.
  • VACUUM SWITCH The safety switch installed in the system to detect low vacuum will be inspected for proper operation and adjustment.
  • VACUUM VALVES The vacuum valves used to control vacuum to each table will be inspected for proper operation and for leakage.
  • VACUUM PUMP GAUGES The gauges located on the vacuum pump will be inspected while the pump is running, to ensure all systems are functioning within the manufacturer’s specifications
  • VACUUM PUMP BELTS All of the belts on the vacuum pump will be inspected for wear, tension and alignment.
  • VACUUM PUMP LUBRICANT The lubricant level in the vacuum pump will be checked, and the lubricant system will be examined for leaks. A sample shall be drawn for analysis.
  • VACUUM HOSES All hoses associated with the vacuum system will be inspected for leaks, and their overall condition will be assessed.
  • VACUUM PUMP APPEARANCE The general condition and overall appearance of the vacuum pump will be assessed.

ESSENTIAL OPTIONS CHECKS

All purchased options delivered or retrofitted on your Komo router will be:

  • Inspected for proper operation
  • Inspected for proper maintenance
  • Adjusted as required to meet quoted performance specifications
